The two books, originally published in hardcover in December 2025, were the inaugural volumes of the relaunched Vico Library — the flagship series of Felice Mosca Press, dedicated to advancing international scholarship on the eighteenth-century Neapolitan philosopher Giambattista Vico (1668–1744). The paperback editions make this scholarship available at a lower price point, extending its reach to students, general readers, and libraries building out their Vico holdings.
An Introduction to Vico
Written by Donald Phillip Verene, Charles Howard Candler Professor Emeritus of Metaphysics and Moral Philosophy and former Director of the Institute of Vico Studies at Emory University, An Introduction to Vico is the first volume written expressly to introduce the general reader to Vico’s thought. Verene traces the development of Vico’s ideas from his early writings on education, through his interpretation of law, to the conception of a new science of the common nature of nations — the argument at the heart of Vico’s masterwork, the New Science.
