Through a critical and philological approach\, Giulia Belgioioso—a scholar of Cartesian thought and its dissemination in Italy—will analyze the ways in which Vico engages\, often polemically yet structurally\, with the Cartesian tradition. This takes place within a cultural backdrop marked by figures such as Tommaso Cornelio\, Francesco D’Andrea\, Giuseppe Valletta\, Paolo Mattia Doria\, Gregorio Caloprese\, and others. The investigation will focus on how Cartesianism was received\, reworked\, and at times opposed in Baroque and Enlightenment Naples\, demonstrating how Vichian reflection critically embeds itself within this intricate philosophical landscape. \n\nLecture language: Italian.
